Support for Parents

Consulting Session

Dr. Cotton works closely with parents to help guide their child’s literacy and academic development. From providing a book list tailored to your child’s interests and levels, to creating a summer plan that you can implement with your child, to helping you understand how to best support your child in their reading and academic journey, to working through the challenge of your child not feeling motivated to read or struggling with a learning disability, she provides tools and support in any way that you need. The challenges of learning to read, navigating school, neurodiversity, self-regulation and social differences can all be so confusing and overwhelming for families. Dr. Cotton is here to support you and help making your parenting journey just a little easier.

Workshops

Dr. Cotton provides online workshops to teach parents and caregivers about many important educational topics, including the learning to read process, self-regulation and executive functioning strategies, the emotional toll of learning to read, the challenges of academics with learning disabilities and ADHD, behavior challenges affecting their learning, navigating school as a parent, the importance of play, and early childhood education. These workshops are tailored to parents and caregivers who want to best support their children and help streamline the connection between school and home. These workshops utilize research based best practices but presented with practical, easy-to-implement strategies.
